Sheriff: Couple transported meth in U-Haul in Kansas

JACKSON COUNTY—Law enforcement authorities are investigating two suspect on multiple charges after a traffic stop.

Just after 1:30 February 3, sheriff’s deputies stopped a southbound U-Haul truck near 134th and U.S. Highway 75 in southern Jackson County for a traffic infraction, according to Sheriff Tim Morse.

A Jackson County Sheriff’s K-9 was deployed and indicated the detection of the odor of illegal narcotics. The driver, Steven Patrick Hernandez, 41, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and driving while revoked. The passenger, Mary Ann Hernandez, 46, of Kansas City, Missouri, was arrested on requested charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a hallucinogenic drug and drug paraphernalia.
