MANHATTAN, Kan. — Four K-State pitchers were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team Tuesday morning, as Owen Boerema, Jacob Frost, Tyson Neighbors, and Josh Wintroub each received recognition for their efforts on the field and in the classroom, following the organization's announcement.
Boerema, a two-time All-Big 12 selection, earned his first Academic All-District honor with K-State as the left-hander graduated with a master's in academic advising and finished with a grade point average of 3.71. This season, the Litchfield, Minn., product leads the Cats with six victories on the mound and has struck out 105 batters. Boerema has compiled 200 strikeouts in his two seasons with K-State, which ranks fifth all-time.
In his first season with the Wildcats, Frost holds a record of 3-1 with a 7.49 ERA. He tossed seven scoreless innings to lead K-State to its ninth no-hitter in program history in a 4-0 shutout over Cincinnati. At K-State, the St. Louis, Mo., native owns a 3.82 GPA in communication studies.
Neighbors earned All-District honors for the second consecutive year, as he leads the bullpen with nine saves. The All-American, who owns a 3.84 GPA in professional strategic selling, stands alone in third all-time in K-State history with 20 career saves, while he is in a three-way tie for sixth in the single-season saves leaderboard.
Graduate Josh Wintroub, who boasts a 3.83 grade point average in data analytics, has made 16 appearances in his first season with K-State, which includes 13 starts. The Littleton, Colo., product is 2-4 on the year with a 5.93 ERA and has struck out 56 batters.
The Wildcats (35-24) face the 12th-national seeded Virginia Cavaliers (44-15) in the 2024 NCAA Super Regionals this weekend, starting the three-game set on Friday, June 7. Friday's series opener is scheduled for 6 p.m. CT, while Saturday's game will hold a 2 p.m. first pitch. If necessary, the decisive third game will be played on Sunday at 2 p.m., with the winner advancing to the 2024 College World Series. All three contests of the NCAA Charlottesville Super Regional will be shown on ESPNU and can be heard on the K-State Sports Network.
