Leon Kermit Shuff, 77, of Hutchinson, died February 19, 2022, at Hutchinson Regional Medical Center. He was born November 29, 1944, in Hutchinson, to Elvin and Wilma (Bowman) Shuff.
Leon graduated from Hutchinson High School in 1963, and went on to join the United States Navy. He worked for Dillons for 13 years. He was employed by the United States Postal Service for 30 years and was a member of the National Association for Letter Carriers for 40 years. Leon loved sports and was a fan of the Royals, Chiefs, Jayhawks, and even the Wildcats. He loved lottery tickets and to play bingo.
On December 13, 1964, he married Laura Fae Lightner in Hutchinson. They shared 57 years together.
Leon is survived by: wife, Laura Shuff; daughters, Alicia Shuff, Michelle Morris (Jesse), Shawna Conrad; son, Shannon Shuff; grandchildren, Jacob, Joshua, and Tara Morris, Kayla and Kelcie Shuff, Alexis Bryant (Elijah), Alyssa and Allyson Conrad; great-grandson, Cyrus Bryant, all of Hutchinson; numerous nieces, nephews, and friends; and his dog and buddy, Sophia.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; brothers, Edward, Norman, Gary, and Stanley Shuff; sister, Elda Worrell; nieces Judy Haag, and Sue Gerstner; nephews, Steven Shuff and Ted Lightner; and an infant child.
Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday, February 25, 2022, at Elliott Mortuary. Burial will follow in Wildmead Cemetery, Nickerson. The family would like to invite friends to join them at the VFW, 328 N. Van Buren, Hutchinson, for light refreshments following the burial. Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 7p.m. Thursday, February 24, with the family present from 5 to 7 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
