HUTCHINSON, Kan. — After 45 years of serving the community, Sleep Shoppe & Furniture Gallery has made the difficult decision to close its physical storefront at 11 N. Main and transition to an online-only presence.
The store’s physical location officially closed Feb 18th, 2025. This move comes in response to ongoing economic challenges and shifting consumer trends.
The furniture and mattress retail environment is tied heavily to home sales and consumers moving and as recently reported by the National Association of Realtors, 2024 was the weakest showing for home sales since 1995, edging out the terrible year for sales in 2023.
“The decision to close our brick-and-mortar store was not an easy one,” said Owner Kevin Rule. “We are incredibly grateful for the support and loyalty our customers have shown us over the years. While this marks the end of an era for our physical location, it also opens new opportunities for us to serve our customers in a more flexible and affordable way.”
