HUTCHINSON, Kan.โThe Hutchinson Salthawks returned home Friday night to take on the Haysville-Campus Colts in football action at Gowans Stadium and rallied to beat the Colts 42-28.
Hutchinson got it done on the ground and in the air as a 50 yard touchdown catch and run by Treyton Peterson with 14 seconds to go before halftime put the Salthawks up for good and they never looked back.
Campus struck first with a 63 yard run by Sophomore Christian Sicard to take the early lead 7-0. Hutchinson then responded with a long drive to tie it up on a Alec McCuan plunge minutes late.
Both teams exchanged scores before Hutch High Senior Myles Thompson connected with Peterson for the go ahead touchdown catch. Peterson had two TD catches on the night as well.
Hutchinson goes to 6-1 on the year and will match up with the Maize Eagles next Friday night at Gowans Stadium to close out the regular season portion of the schedule. Maize won over league rival Derby 36-35 Friday night which makes the Hutch vs Maize matchup for the league championship a much anticipated game.
