HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The Hutchinson Fox Theatre is continuing to build momentum this spring with a mix of major touring acts, family comedy, live symphony and classic films.
Fox Theatre Executive Director Josh Davies said the historic venue has recently announced the return of Grammy Award-winning saxophonist Kenny G, who will perform April 9 in a separately ticketed show that is already drawing strong interest.
“We’re very excited to have just recently announced Kenny G coming back to the Fox on April 9,” Davies said. “Last time he was here, it was for a Christmas show, and this time, it’s going to be for his regular tour.”
Davies said Kenny G’s previous appearance at the Fox was a sellout, helping pave the way for his return.
“It was a huge success,” Davies said. “It was a sellout show, and everybody loved it. Of course, we wanted to bring him back.”
Kenny G, one of the best-selling instrumental artists of all time, has sold more than 75 million records worldwide and has amassed more than 1.5 billion global streams.
Davies said the show is on pace to sell out again. He also noted that Kenny G gives away a saxophone during the performance, something he did during his last Fox appearance.
“It’s a really cool little part of the show,” Davies said.
Tickets for Kenny G are on sale now for Fox members and season ticket holders, with public sales beginning Friday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. Tickets are priced at $68 to $99 by phone or in person at the Fox Box Office, and $73.50 to $104.50 online, including a $5.50 convenience fee.
The Fox also has another special event set for April 30, when PrairieStar Health Center will host a family-focused fundraiser comedy night to support a new dental clinic. The event will feature clean comedian Rik Roberts, a Nashville-based performer known for appearances on DryBar Comedy, PureFlix Comedy All-Stars and SiriusXM radio.
Roberts, who also holds the Guinness World Record for the longest stand-up comedy show at more than seven days, is scheduled to perform at 6:30 p.m. April 30.
Tickets for that event range from $25 to $40 at the box office or by phone, and $30.50 to $45.50 online, including the convenience fee.
In May, the Fox will welcome the Salina Symphony for a performance of Beethoven’s Ninth on May 2, marking the first collaboration between the two organizations.
Davies said the partnership comes at a meaningful time for local classical music fans following the loss of the Hutchinson Symphony.
“They’re just a little ways down the road, and saw that we had lost our symphony, and offered to come in and just do a concert for the season,” Davies said. “We’re happy to do that.”
Davies added that the concert should appeal to longtime classical music fans as well as anyone interested in hearing a live orchestra on the Fox stage.
The theater’s spring schedule also includes “Stayin’ Alive,” a Bee Gees tribute show scheduled for May 7. Davies called it one of the Fox’s most popular upcoming shows and said it should resonate with audiences who enjoy the Bee Gees’ extensive catalog, from their disco-era hits to their earlier songwriting work.
“This is really the largest and most definitive Bee Gees tribute touring,” Davies said. “It’s a really, really good show.”
Beyond live performances, Davies said the Fox continues to expand its movie offerings through its newly branded retro and classic film series. The program now blends older Hollywood classics with retro favorites from the 1970s, 1980s and 1990s.
This week’s lineup includes “Wayne’s World” on Thursday and Friday nights, followed by “The Sound of Music” on Saturday evening and Sunday afternoon.
Davies said the Fox remains one of the most affordable entertainment options in town, with movie tickets priced at $7 for adults and $6 for seniors, students, military members and veterans. The theater also offers a $50 film card that includes 10 admissions and five free small popcorns.
The Fox continues to urge patrons to buy directly through its official channels to avoid inflated resale prices and ticket scams.
“It’s a huge problem across the country,” Davies said. “If you start at HutchinsonFox.com, you’ll be in the right place.”
Tickets and information for all shows, movies and events are available online at HutchinsonFox.com, by phone at 620-663-1981, or in person at the Fox Box Office, 18 E. First Ave. The box office is open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday.
