The 137th annual Emancipation Day Celebration continues Saturday in Hutchinson with a full day of events honoring freedom, unity and community.

The day begins with the annual Emancipation Day Parade. Participants will line up beginning at 9:30 a.m. at B and Adams Streets, with the parade stepping off at 10 a.m. from B and Main Streets.

Following the parade, the celebration moves to the Knights of Columbus Hall, 1200 W. 15th Ave., where a free community picnic begins at 12:30 p.m.

The afternoon will feature free food, games, inflatable attractions for children, vendors, music and entertainment. Organizers invite residents of all ages to attend and take part in the community celebration.

The weekend concludes with the annual Old School Dance beginning at 9 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus. The dance is open to adults 21 and older. Admission is $15 per person or $20 per couple.

Now in its 137th year, the Emancipation Day Celebration is one of Hutchinson's longest-running community traditions, bringing residents together each year to commemorate freedom while promoting unity and fellowship throughout the community.
