
LYONS, Kan. — Following the retirement of Ed Truelove, the City of Lyons is seeking a new City Administrator.
According to the recruitment profile from the Austin Peters Group, the City Administrator was established in Lyons by ordinance in 1970.
Lyons is a city of the second class by Kansas Statute and operates under the Mayor/Council/Administrator form of government. The mayor is elected at-large and the eight city council members are elected to overlapping terms.
There will be a municipal election in November 2024 and the Mayor and four council positions are up for election. Three incumbents have chosen not to run for reelection.

A screening report will be presented to the governing body Oct. 21 and they will identify finalists. Formal background checks will take place Oct. 28. Election day is Nov. 5. Finalists will be interviewed Nov. 11-15, with an offer the next week and intent to announce the new hire Dec. 2.
