Viola Ruth “Vi” Schultz, 90, of Buhler, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022 at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community in Buhler. She was born on December 8, 1931, at Wolf Point, Montana, the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Enns) Funk.
Vi attended school in Montana until 2nd grade and after moving to Kansas, she went to school in Hillsboro, graduating with the class of 1949.
She worked at Vogt’s Grocery Store in Hillsboro after graduating, spent 2 years in Mennonite Voluntary Service in Colorado beginning in 1952 and worked for Lovella Adrian in her home-based coupon service for 15 years. She worked at Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community for over 30 years as a CNA and overseeing the transporting of residents to and from appointments.
Vi was united in marriage to John L. Schultz on November 8, 1952, at Hillsboro.
She was a woman of quiet faith and was a member of Buhler Mennonite Brethren Church.
She is survived by daughter, Donna Hensley and her husband Allan of Nampa, ID.; son, Darrell Schultz and his wife Christi of Buhler; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Vi was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John; daughter, Debbie Maberry and her husband Dave; brothers, LaVern Funk and his first wife Maxine, Arlie Funk and his wife Aldine, Marvin Funk and his wife Esther, and Loyal Funk; and sisters, Alice Funk and Grace Weber.
Memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Buhler MB Church. Burial will take place 10:00 a.m. prior to the service, at Buhler Municipal Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, January 28, at Buhler Mortuary, with the family present from 5 to 6:30 p.m. The memorial service can be viewed on the church's Facebook page, Buhler MB Church.
