Dennis Burton Neuenschwander, 74, died Saturday, June 26, 2021, at St. Francis Hospital, Wichita. He was born February 14, 1947, in Hutchinson, to Floyd Wilbur and Nellie Joanna (Frye) Neuenschwander.
He was a 1965 graduate of Fairfield High School, and graduated from Hutchinson Community College, Sterling College, and Emporia State University. Dennis attended Huntsville United Methodist Church, and was a United States Army veteran who served in Germany.
He restored paintings and antique and wicker furniture, made lampshades for antique shops, was interested in art, and an avid reader. Dennis taught school for a short time in Alden and WaKeeney grade schools. He also worked at Eaton Corp., Electrix, and the paint department at Walmart.
He is survived by: sister, Vicky McFarland and husband Kenneth; nephew, Aaron McFarland, all of Nickerson; aunt, Ora Henry of Hutchinson; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by: his parents; grandparents, Harmon and Zetta Frye and Calvin and Lottie Neuenschwander; and niece, Robin Dawn McFarland.
Cremation has taken place. Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Friday, July 2, 2021, at Elliott Chapel, with Keith A. Dellenbach presiding. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Huntsville. Military honors will be conducted by Ft. Riley Honor Guard.
Friends may sign his book from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. at Elliott Mortuary.
