
TOPEKA —Law enforcement authorities are investigating a suspect on multiple charges after an arrest following a standoff.
Just after 10a.m. February 19, police were dispatched to the 1600 block of SW Central Park in Topeka on for a violent domestic disturbance, according to Lt. Kelvin Johnson.
The caller was able to get out of the house and met with officers and informed them the suspect was inside with their three children. The suspect was wanted for a previous incident as well as the incidents that had just occurred. Attempts to make contact and have the suspect surrender were not successful and the Topeka Police Response Team and Crisis Negotiators were called to assist.
After several hours of negotiation, the children were eventually sent out of the house unharmed and the suspect peacefully surrendered and was transported to the Law Enforcement Center to be interviewed. At the conclusion of the interview, Joshua Wade, 35 of Topeka, was booked into the Shawnee County Department of Corrections on requested charges of Aggravated Battery, Domestic Aggravated Battery, Domestic Battery, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Criminal Damage, Felony Flee and Elude and Obstruction, according to Johnson.
