Harold D. Kaufman, 95, of Moundridge, passed away Thursday, August 11, 2022 at Pine Village. He was born January 13, 1927 in McPherson County, Kansas, the son of David and Helen (Graber) Kaufman.
He attended school at Pleasant Ridge, Berlin and Liberty Elementary Schools. Harold graduated from Moundridge High School with the class of 1945, and later attended Hutchinson Junior College.
In 1953, Harold served in the 1W service as a psych aide for two years at Topeka State Hospital in Topeka.
Harold was united in marriage to Helen Stucky on August 17, 1950 in Moundridge. Born to this union was their son, Tony D. Kaufman on May 1, 1953. Helen preceded Harold in death on December 7, 2012, after 62 years of marriage.
He farmed while working at Hesston Corporation and CASE in McPherson and Hutchinson. Harold worked at CASE for exactly 20 years, from November 15, 1968 to November 15, 1988. Following his retirement, Harold enjoyed gardening and inventing gadgets that proved useful in home maintenance.
Harold leaves behind two grandsons, Jeremy B. (Morgan) Kaufman of North Newton, and Trevor B (Katelyn) Kaufman of Wichita; one granddaughter, Shana K. (Adam) Tilman of Broken Arrow, OK; daughter-in-law, Kathy Kaufman Chouinard of Newton; and six great-grandchildren, Josie Kaufman, Maggie Kaufman, Maisie Kaufman, Hazel Kaufman, Easton Tilman, and Dailee Tilman; plus one great-grandchild on the way.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Helen Kaufman; wife, Helen Kaufman; son, Tony D. Kaufman; grandson, Tyler B. Kaufman; two brothers, Merlin D. (Verlene) Kaufman and Ralph D. (Ruth) Kaufman; and two sisters, Verna (Virgil) Goering, and Neva (Elvin) Schrag.
Cremation is planned. Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 16, 2022 at Eden Mennonite Church.
