The National Weather Service has issued a Heat Advisory in effect from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and Friday for portions of Central and South Central Kansas, including the Hutchinson area.
Forecasters warn that heat index values could reach up to 107 degrees during the advisory period both Thursday and Friday afternoons. The combination of high temperatures and humidity may increase the risk of heat-related illnesses, especially for vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and those working outdoors.
