INMAN, Kan. — The City of Inman has entered Stage 1 of its Water Conservation Plan after using approximately 67% of its annual water allocation.
The city has an annual water right of 82.86 million gallons. The Inman City Council approved the Water Watch in response to current water conditions.
Stage 1 does not include mandatory restrictions. Instead, residents and businesses are encouraged to voluntarily reduce water use and help protect the community’s supply.
The city recommends limiting unnecessary lawn watering, washing only full loads of laundry and dishes, taking shorter showers and turning off faucets while brushing teeth or completing other tasks.
Residents should also inspect faucets, toilets and irrigation systems for leaks and avoid unnecessary vehicle washing and other activities that use large amounts of water.
Municipal operations will also be reviewed. The city plans to limit hydrant flushing, vehicle washing and street cleaning when possible.
City officials said every gallon conserved will help preserve the community’s water supply. Additional updates will be provided if conditions change.
