NICKERSON, Kan. — The Nickerson USD 309 School Board will try to fill two vacant seats during tonight’s agenda session. The Board has been short two seats for several months. Several candidates filed for the positions but failed to gain approval from the board.
Mikeal Starns, R.J. Wenzel and Larry Meadows in the South Hutchinson district had applied for those positions at that time. All three are on the list again to go before the board this evening.
Mike Sullivan was on the list to represent Reno Valley at that time and was also voted down. He too is back before the board again this evening.
If the board votes against the four again the only other possible option would be to wait until the next school board election in 2021 to fill the spots.
Tonight’s meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Reno Valley Middle School.
