LAWRENCE, Kan. β€” The University of Kansas has landed the No. 1 ranked basketball player in the state of Alabama for the class of 2024, point guard Labaron Philon.

Philon is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound point guard from Link Year Prep in Branson, Missouri. He is listed as the No. 38 player in the country. 

He chose the Jayhawks over Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Cincinnati, Houston, LSU, Louisville, Mississippi, Penn State, Stanford, South Alabama, Oklahoma State, Tennessee and others.

Philon took an official visit to Lawrence this past weekend. 

He had originally committed to Auburn at one point during his recruitment, before de-committing in April. 

Philon won the Alabama Gatorade Player of the Year at Baker High School in Mobile, Alabama his junior year. He averaged nearly 35 points, six rebounds, four assists and nearly three steals.
