Kenneth Kirby Neufeld, 72, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away Wednesday, February 7, 2024 at NMCHealth in Newton, Kansas. He was born on August 20, 1951 in Moundridge, the son of Wilbur and Alice K. (Petersen) Neufeld.
He grew up in Burns, Kansas and attended grade school there. Kenneth graduated from Peabody High School with the class of 1969.
Kenneth was drafted in the United States Army, serving in the Vietnam War. He attained the rank of Sergeant.
He was united in marriage to Teresa Huffman on September 15, 1973. They shared just over 50 years of marriage.
Kenneth worked for the Bradbury Co. for over 43 years, starting as a mechanic and later retiring as a planner in 2017.
He was a member of and was baptized at the Moundridge United Methodist Church. In his early adult life, Kenneth enjoyed backpacking with his brothers-in-law, later backpacking with his son, Ryan. He enjoyed model railroading, and volunteering his time participating in the color guard for Memorial Day and parades. He was involved in the group SN3 Narrow Gauge, and shared his love for trains with his son, Rhett and grandson, Keagan. Kenneth and Teresa would always show up for their children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events, traveling many miles throughout the years.
Survivors include his wife, Teresa Neufeld of the home; sons, Rhett Neufeld of Moundridge, and Ryan (Tonya) Neufeld of Durango, CO; Rhett’s daughters, Adrian and Peyton and son, Keagan Neufeld; Ryan’s daughter, Olivia Neufeld; great-granddaughter, Ellamarie Neufeld; Rhett’s stepdaughter, Taylor Clouatre; and sister, Kristina (Darrell) Plenert of McPherson.
Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents.
