HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Reno County is actually lower than average this week when it comes to gas prices.
"Reno County is $2.87 a gallon, about six cents less than the statewide average," said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. "In Kansas, we're at $2.93 a gallon. That's 22 cents less than the national average and that puts us at 12th cheapest gas prices in the country."
There also may be some good news coming about crude oil prices.
"Over the weekend, we did see that OPEC reached a deal to increase production in August," Steward said. "There's hope that could provide some relief for us at the pumps."
Demand does continue to be strong as people get back to traveling before school starts next month.
