Today's "Throwback Thursday Collection" takes us to the northwest corner of West 2nd and North Adams.
The property at 200 W. 2nd was owned by various power companies for a long time.
It wasn't until 1962 that the Kansas Power & Light Co. built the current building there.
It then became the K.P.&L. business offices and Dale Whitaker was the facility manager. The first photo shows that building at its opening.

Many people paid their electric bills there. Many people also remember that they artificially colored the front lawn green.
In 1994, the Community Health Center started sharing the building with K.P.&L.
By 1997, it was theirs all alone.
In 2003, Mid Kansas Credit Union shared a space also.
In 2004, doctors Marshall, Spitzer and Tweito turned it into a physicians' clinic that eventually became Prairie Star Health Center.
By 2013, its use dwindled and it became vacant. The second photo shows that time frame.

In 2017, the Hutchinson Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee purchased the building and started the Hutchinson Electrical Training Academy there. The third photo shows that at opening.

The fourth photo shows the 200 W. 2nd building today with its upgrades, still the training academy and still owned by the Hutchinson Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee.
