
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Wichita man has been arrested in connection with a fatal fentanyl overdose investigated by the Hutchinson Police Department.
Cody R. Martin, 31, was taken into custody Feb. 11 on charges of distribution of fentanyl causing death and arranging the sale of a controlled substance using a communication facility, according to authorities.
The case stems from a fatal overdose reported in January 2025. The Hutchinson Police Department assigned the investigation to its Special Operations Unit, which identified Martin as a suspect in the alleged illegal distribution of controlled substances that resulted in the death.
Investigators forwarded their findings to the Reno County District Attorney’s Office for review. After evaluating the case, Reno County District Attorney Thomas R. Stanton filed criminal complaints in Reno County District Court alleging violations of Kansas law.
The Hutchinson Police Department thanked the Wichita Police Department and the United States Marshals Service for assisting with the investigation and arrest.
