HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Advance voting continues to draw Reno County residents to the polls, with more than 6,500 voters casting ballots ahead of Tuesday's general election.

According to the Reno County Election Office, 6,527 voters had cast ballots as of 3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 30.

That represents an increase of 3,577 voters since Thursday, Oct. 22, when the county reported 2,950 advance voters. The total has more than doubled in just over a week.

Last week, election officials reported that 566 residents voted on Wednesday, Oct. 21, with daily turnout exceeding the typical 250 to 300 voters.

Voters still have two opportunities to cast advance ballots before Election Day on Tuesday, Nov. 3.

The Reno County Annex will be open for advance voting Saturday, Oct. 31, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The final opportunity to vote in advance will be Monday, Nov. 2, when voting closes at noon.

Polls will be open on Election Day from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The general election includes federal, state and local races, along with several local ballot questions, including a bond proposal in Hutchinson USD 308.

The latest figure also puts Reno County ahead of its total in-person advance voting turnout from the 2018 and 2022 gubernatorial elections. County Clerk Jenna Fager previously reported 5,369 advance in-person ballots in 2018 and 5,195 in 2022. If Friday's 6,527 figure represents in-person voting, the county has already surpassed those totals by 1,158 and 1,332 votes, respectively.

Advance voting is available at the Reno County Annex, 125 W. First Ave. in Hutchinson. Voters can find their assigned Election Day polling locations through the Kansas Secretary of State's VoterView website.
