The Hutchinson Community College men's basketball team looks to turn things around Wednesday night in the friendly confines of the Hutchinson Sports Arena.

The Blue Dragons (6-5, 2-3 KJCCC) play host to the Garden City Broncbusters (6-5, 2-4) at 7:30 p.m.

The game will be broadcast live on Blue Dragon flagship station KHUT-FM (102.9) and on sister stations KWBW-AM/FM (1450/98.5) beginning at 7:15 p.m. with Sean Boston (play-by-play) and Dan Naccarato (analyst) calling the action. Hutchinson has had a full week to prepare for the Broncbusters after having its first of two conference bye weeks on Saturday. One week ago, the Blue Dragons dropped a tight battle with KJCCC co-leader Coffeyville, 81-77 at the Sports Arena.

The Dragons led 30-26 at halftime, holding the Red Ravens to 22.9 percent shooting in the opening 20 minutes. Coffeyville shot 54.8 percent in the second half and pulled away in the final 3 minutes of the game.

Bobby Cannon nailed 5 of 8 from 3-point range to lead the Blue Dragons with 18 points. Khalil Arnold posted a career high for the second-straight game with 17 points and Jaquez Thornton closed with 15 points, six rebound and six assists.

That same Coffeyville team gave Garden City an 81-78 home loss on Saturday. Antonio Chol had a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds to lead Garden City. Caleb Smith added 15 and Boston Harker had 14 for the Busters.

Under interim head coach Isaiah Tisdale, the Busters own solid wins over NOC-Tonkawa (101-91), Fort Hays Tech Northwest (97-89) and Independence (89-85). Garden has three losses of six or less points.

The Blue Dragons and Broncbusters play for the 196th time in a series that began in 1929. Hutchinson has dominated the series, owning a 144-51 all-time record against Garden City. The Dragons have won four straight games in the series.

The last seven meetings of this series have been particularly high scoring. Over the last seven games, Hutchinson and Garden City have averaged 192.3 combined points per game with the Dragons averaging 99.3 points per game and the Busters 93.0 points per game.
