NEWTON, Kan. — The joint committee of the City of Newton, USD 373, and the Newton Rec Commission helping plan improvements at Themian Park met this week and finalized the proposed park layout, which includes new baseball fields, a turf soccer field, pickleball courts, basketball courts, park shelter and restrooms.
The Railer Foundation is raising private funds for the $1.76 million in proposed improvements. Donations can be made online through the Central Kansas Community Foundation or mailed to Themian Park Fund, CKCF, 400 S. Main Ste 100, Newton KS 67114.
The City Commission will hear an update on the project Tuesday evening.
