Jonas L. Miller, 83, of Hutchinson, KS, died at 7:45 am on Monday, August 9, at Freeman Bontrager residence, Millersburg, IN.

He had become ill while visiting this area. He was born on August 3, 1938 in Atlantic, PA, to Levi M. and Mattie E. (Byler) Miller. On September 26, 1958 in Greenville, PA he married Ruth Kauffman, she died January 17, 2011.

Surviving are son, Melvin (Elizabeth) Miller of Hutchinson, KS; daughter, Erma Marsh of Stephenville, TX; 13 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; half-brother, Joe (Elva) Miller of Middlefield, OH; two half-sisters, Sadie Miller of Lewisburg, KY, Clara Miller of Middlefield, OH; two stepsisters, Fannie (William) Miller of Chaseburg, WI, Bill (Lizzie) Miller of Hazen, PA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and infant daughter, Esther Miller; two stillborn children; two brothers, Enos and Dan Miller; sister, Amelia Mullet; half-sister, Mary Ann Fry and stepmother Rosa Miller. Jonas had been a farmer, worked in factories and most recently as a carpenter before retiring. He is a member of the Old Order Amish Church.

Visitation will be from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, August 10, at Marion and Ruby Nisley residence, 62413 State Rd. 13 Goshen; then from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 pm, Thursday, August 12, at Melvin Miller residence, 2408 East Ranger Rd., Hutchinson, KS. Funeral services will be at 9:00 am on Friday, August 13, also at the Melvin Miller residence in Hutchinson, KS. Services will be conducted by Bishop Floyd Schrock and the home ministers. Burial will be in Yoder Cemetery, Yoder, KS. Miller-Stewart Funeral Home, Middlebury and Ott Funeral Home in Haven, KS are in charge of arrangements.
