KINGMAN COUNTY — Three people died in an accident just after 10 a.m. Friday in Kingman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2004 Chevy Classic driven by Justin Robert Martin, 21, Cheney, was northbound on NE 100 Avenue and NE 10th Street ten miles east of Kingman.

The driver failed to stop at the stop sign. An eastbound 1992 Chevy 2500 hauling a stock trailer and driven by Franklin Leroy Young, 89, Cheney, struck the Chevy Classic on the drivers door in the middle of the intersection.

Martin, Young and a passenger in the Chevy Classic identified as 25-year-old Ashley J. Ashwill of Cheney were pronounced dead at the scene and were transported to Livingston Funeral Home.

EMS transported a passenger in the Chevy 2500 John D. Stewart, 61, to St. Francis.  The occupants of the pickup were not wearing seat belts, according to the KHP.
