Senator Ed Berger secures commitment from state commerce department for Fair Board

HUTCHINSON – Following the Kansas State Fair Board’s decision to cancel the 2020 Kansas State Fair, many individuals immediately began working to preserve the Board’s operations. While there are still details to work out, Senator Ed Berger is proud to announce he has obtained the commitment of the State of Kansas to finding a solution to ensure operations remain in place.

“I greatly appreciate the State of Kansas and the Department of Commerce helping the Kansas State Fair recover from this year’s serious setback,” Senator Berger said. “Working together, we will put together a plan to move forward and preserve a tradition that’s important for Hutchinson and the state as a whole.”

Toland said the state was prepared to provide support needed to ensure the State Fair’s future. “I'm grateful for Senator Berger’s leadership in working to preserve this important economic and cultural driver in our state,” the Secretary said. “His efforts will be instrumental in restoring the State Fair's strength and vitality as we plan its return in 2021.”
