HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Chuck Welch with Hutchinson Hospital told the Board of County Commissioners Tuesday that the hospital plans to make their COVID data even more transparent going forward.
"What we're trying to do and get better at, in full transparency, is give, not only you, but the public, a snapshot of kind of where the hospital sits from a COVID-19 standpoint," Welch said. "We have created a dashboard. It is up and live now. It's on our Facebook page. It's soon to be up on a billboard. We're going to report on that once a week. Every Monday, we'll update the current status. It won't be cumulative. We're just going to try to make this as easy and simple to understand. That day, when you see it, that will be the current status of COVID in the hospital."
There will be three main numbers on the dashboard.
"We have total COVID patients, we have COVID patients in the ICU and we have COVID patients receiving mechanical ventilation," Welch said. "Each column will be vaccinated versus unvaccinated. As this surge continues to get worse, as we enter the fall and winter months, I think you'll see those numbers really start to separate in vaccinated versus unvaccinated."
The billboards will likely start next week, but the dashboard is already being Tweeted by the hospital's account.
