Motorists in Hutchinson will need to plan for a temporary road closure as crews begin work on a storm line repair project beneath South Severance Street.

According to city officials, South Severance Street will be closed at the East Avenue C intersection from June 9 through June 22 while repairs are completed on the underground storm drainage infrastructure.

The closure is necessary to allow crews safe access to the storm line located beneath the roadway. Drivers traveling through the area are encouraged to use alternate routes during the construction period.

A designated detour will direct traffic to Plum Street to navigate around the closure. Officials ask motorists to follow posted detour signs and use caution when traveling near the work zone.

The project is expected to last approximately two weeks, weather permitting. Once repairs are complete, the intersection will reopen to normal traffic.

City officials appreciate the public's patience and cooperation as the infrastructure improvements are completed. Residents and commuters are encouraged to allow extra travel time while the closure remains in effect.
