It took an Ellis County jury just over an hour to find a Russell man guilty in connection with a string of burglaries in Hays last year.

Robin Galyardt was found guilty Friday of three counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary and two counts of theft.

Assistant Ellis County Attorney Aaron Cunningham said Friday that Galyardt was found guilty of burglary for breaking into Merle Norman Cosmetics, Eagle Technology Solutions and CBD American Shaman on March 19, 2020. The attempted burglary convictions stem from his Galyardt’s attempts to enter two other Hays businesses.

Galyardt was found guilty of theft for taking money from Eagle Technology Solutions and CBD American Shaman.

Cunningham said Galyardt is expected to face between 27 and 55 months in prison. Officials are working to determine his prior criminal history.

Galyardt does have a prior conviction for aggravated burglary and possession of burglary tools dating back to 1990, according to Kansas Department of Corrections records.

Sentencing is expected sometime next month.
