HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The COVID-19 case count in Reno County is at 605 cases as of Tuesday. That's the highest case count since Christmas Eve of 2020.

The hospital's Tuesday update has 14 COVID patients in the hospital with six in the ICU and eight on respiratory support out of a total of 55 patients for all causes.

Two deaths have been added to the overall total on the county dashboard to bring it to 147.

Since the April 29 report, there have been 1236 cases, which means not quite half of all the cases since the end of April are currently active. Of the 631 resolved cases since then, with either recovery or death, there have only been eight deaths, which would be a rate of 1.2% among resolved cases in just over four months. That is down from an overall rate for the entire pandemic in Reno County of 1.7% (147 deaths out of 8,505 resolved cases).

The vaccination rate in Reno County is still below 50 percent, with 28,692 people receiving at least one dose.
