WICHITA STATE ATHLETIC COMMUNICATIONS
A marquee home-and-home series has been added to the schedule for Wichita State men's basketball in 2026 and 2027.
Wichita State will host New Mexico in Charles Koch Arena on Nov. 21, 2026 and make the return trip to The Pit in Albuquerque in 2027. That date has not been set.
The two programs haven't met since Nov. 22, 2006 in Las Vegas. The Lobos have won each of the last three matchups in the series to grab a 3-2 lead all time against the Shockers. New Mexico hasn't played in Wichita since 1958 - an 81-53 win for Wichita State.
New Mexico is coming off a 26-11 campaign in 2025-26 that saw them reach the semifinals of the NIT and a final NET ranking of No. 46. The Lobos are under the direction of second-year head coach Eric Olen.
With the addition of New Mexico to the non-conference schedule, Wichita State will now host two Top-60 NET teams in Charles Koch Arena this season with New Mexico (No. 46) and Boise State (No. 60).
Wichita State is coming off a 24-win season and its second straight postseason berth. The Shockers have increased their win total each year under head coach Paul Mills, who will be entering his fourth season on the sideline. The 2026-27 team enters with high expectations after the announcement of 10 Shockers set to return.
