HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Fire crews responded Tuesday afternoon to a house fire in the 1300 block of East Seventh Avenue, where smoke was seen coming from the roof of a single-story home.
The Hutchinson Fire Department said firefighters located the fire in a bathroom and quickly extinguished it. Several pets were found inside the residence and were safely removed.
The home was occupied by two adults, three children and several dogs and cats. No injuries were reported. Officials said the occupants were alerted by a working smoke detector.
The fire caused moderate damage to the bathroom, and the home was deemed uninhabitable.
