HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Gas prices are coming back down from the effect of Ida.

"We're at $2.91 a gallon in Kansas, which was up about three cents right after the hurricane," said Shawn Steward with AAA Kansas. "Now, in the last week, we're down one cent from where we were and the same trend is happening at the national level down one cent from a week ago to $3.17 a gallon."

Reno County is at $2.92 a gallon, one cent over the state average.

"Demand over the Labor Day holiday was healthy," Steward said. "We'll be looking at that over the next few weeks to see if we experience the typical fall decline in gasoline demand."

Between that seasonal decline, and the drop in cost inherent in winter blend gasoline, there is a decent chance that prices could drop in the coming months if no other storms do further damage.
