HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The City of Hutchinson is inviting residents to get a behind-the-scenes look at its water system during a Water Utilities Open House scheduled for April 1.
The free, come-and-go event will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. and will give community members an opportunity to learn how the city delivers safe, reliable water to homes and businesses.
Attendees will be able to take guided tours of the city’s Reverse Osmosis Water Treatment Facility, where staff will walk visitors through the treatment process and explain how drinking water is cleaned and distributed.
In addition to facility tours, the event will feature interactive stations covering a range of water utility services, including water treatment and distribution, wastewater operations, stormwater management, infrastructure maintenance and long-term planning.
City staff will be available throughout the evening to answer questions and provide insight into how the Utilities Department treats millions of gallons of water each day while maintaining safety and reliability standards.
The open house will begin in the facility lobby, where visitors will be directed to tours and informational areas.
City officials encourage residents of all ages to attend and learn more about the systems that support public health and daily life in Hutchinson.
