
HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Eagle Media’s Hutchinson radio stations, comprised of KHUT, KHMY and KWBW earned statewide recognition Monday as the Kansas Association of Broadcasters announced winners of the 2025 KAB station awards. Eagle Media competed in the Medium Market Radio Awards.
KHUT (102.9 FM) led the way with three first-place honors and a second-place finish. The station won Best Commercial Campaign for its Strataca series, produced by Daren Dunn and Ashley Weve, and also claimed first in Multimedia Promotional or Commercial Announcements for another Strataca piece created by Ashley Weve, Karl Sneath, Daren Dunn, Max Bringle and the Eagle Media Team.
KHUT added a second-place finish in the same multimedia category for its Willie Johnson Ford spot, produced by Ashley Weve, Miriam Yoder, Colleen Floyd and Karl Sneath. The team also earned first place in Station Promotion Announcement for “Spotlight A Hero,” credited to Daren Dunn and Ashley Weve.
KHMY (93.1 FM) received an honorable mention in Best Morning Show for “Daren Dunn in the Morning.”
KWBW (1450 AM/98.5 FM) earned an honorable mention in Sports Play-by-Play for its broadcast of the NJCAA Football National Championship game, called by Sean Boston and Daren Dunn. The station also received an honorable mention for Station Excellence, recognizing the efforts of the KWBW staff across news, sports and public service programming.
The KAB awards honor outstanding work in radio and television across Kansas. Other top-performing stations in the Medium Market division included KGGF in Coffeyville, KANU in Lawrence and fellow Eagle Media station, KAYS in Hays.
