HUTCHINSON, Kan. — A Hutchinson woman was killed early Thursday morning after her vehicle left the roadway and struck the digital Cosmosphere sign near 11th Avenue and Plum Street.
According to the Hutchinson Police Department, officers were dispatched along with the Hutchinson Fire Department and Reno County EMS to the single-vehicle crash at about 2:10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 27.
Police said the vehicle was traveling east on 11th Avenue when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and struck the Cosmosphere sign.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was identified as 52-year-old Ginger M. McClanahan of Hutchinson. She was pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation by the Hutchinson Police Department Traffic Unit.
