
BUHLER, Kan. — More than $30,000 in grants were awarded recently from Buhler Community Foundation.
Grants ranging from $1,200 to $9,060 went to seven local nonprofit organizations paid from the Fund for Buhler, an unrestricted grantmaking fund that allows the foundation to address the ever-changing needs of the community, and from the Buhler Public Health Endowment Fund.
The following agencies received a total of $30,355:
- Buhler Community Farmers Market, $1,200: Grant will purchase various supplies that will help grow the event.
- Buhler Fire Department, $7,000: Grant will purchase a fire extractor machine to clean the volunteer firefighters’ gear, allowing them to keep dangerous carcinogens out of their family homes.
- Buhler Recreation, $3,200: With this grant, Buhler Recreation hopes to complete the tournament-ready 18-hole disk golf course and purchase a new grill to be used at the baseball complex and other public events.
- Buhler Public Library, $1,595: Grant will partially fund the purchase of three public-use computers, which serve as the only way for many residents to access online information.
- City of Buhler, $9,060: This amount from the Buhler Public Health Endowment Fund will go toward the installation of a public pickleball court in Wheatland Park.
- Sunshine Meadows Retirement Community, $5,000: Grant will pay for the installation of additional wireless call buttons in one of the two nursing wings of the facility.
- Buhler Wellness Center, $3,300: This grant will fund the update of a treadmill and the salt cell generator for the indoor workout pool, allowing patrons uninterrupted access to fitness equipment.
