HUTCHINSON, Kan. — 911 Hutchinson–Reno County Emergency Communications marked its third year of adopting a local family for Christmas, continuing a holiday tradition focused on giving back to the community, according to a Facebook post by the City of Hutchinson.
This year, the 911 team partnered with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hutchinson to identify families in need. For Christmas 2025, the group adopted a single mother and her three children, two boys ages 9 and 6 and a 4-year-old daughter.
Members of the 911 staff provided a holiday meal and Christmas gifts for the family. The celebration also included a surprise visit from Mr. and Mrs. Claus, adding to the festivities and helping make the holiday season brighter.
The effort was shared this week by the City of Hutchinson Government, which praised the continued commitment of emergency communications staff to community service during the holidays.
