McPherson home total loss after Tuesday fire

MCPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Fire Department was dispatched at 11:32 a.m. Tuesday for the report of a structure fire in the 1400 block of Briarwood Lane. Upon arrival, fire crews encountered heavy fire involvement from a two-car garage attached to the home. Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire in the garage while also extinguishing flames that had spread to the exterior wall of the neighboring house to the north. Fire crews made entry into the house to conduct a search for occupants and extinguish the fire. Crews were able to confirm that the occupants of both residences involved were not at home at the time of the fire.

No injuries were reported. The damage to the house is extensive and will be considered a total loss. There was a total of 22 firefighters on scene. McPherson Fire Department responded with 15 personnel and 7 fire apparatus, Galva Fire Department with 2 personnel and 2 fire apparatus, and Inman Fire Department responded with 5 personnel and 3 fire apparatus.

The Galva and Inman Fire Departments responded to the scene to assist with extinguishment of the fire. McPherson EMS, McPherson Police Department, and McPherson County Emergency Management provided resources and support at the scene as well. Fire crews cleared from the scene shortly after 3 p.m.

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by McPherson Fire Department Fire Investigators. No foul play is suspected.
