HUTCHINSON, Kan. — The USD 308 Board of Education will meet Monday evening with a pair of key items on the agenda, including a proposed property purchase near Allen STEM Magnet School and an annual review of non-resident student enrollment capacity.

Board members will consider a resolution to purchase property located at 412 W. 10th Avenue, situated across from Allen STEM Magnet School. The negotiated purchase price is $30,000, in addition to any closing costs, fees, and related expenses necessary to complete the transaction.

According to district information, the acquisition is intended to help address future safety and parking concerns in the area surrounding the school. Officials have not yet detailed specific plans for the property but indicate it will support long-term operational needs at the site.

Also on Monday’s agenda, Dr. Krystal Young is scheduled to present the district’s non-resident student enrollment capacity for the 2026–2027 school year.

Kansas law requires school districts to determine and declare projected enrollment figures and the number of open seats available to non-resident students each year. The superintendent or a designee must submit recommendations to the board by May 1.

Following board approval, USD 308 must publish the data on its website by June 1. The report will include both the anticipated total student population for the upcoming school year and the number of available spots for students residing outside district boundaries.
