KANSAS DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION
The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) will begin two projects to remove and replace the pavement markings on two highways in Reno County on March 16, conditions permitting.
The new markings will be on the K-14/K-96 bypass south and west of Hutchinson from the U.S. 50 junction north to 56th Avenue and on K-61 north from 30th Avenue in Hutchinson to the McPherson County line. The project will be completed by the end of spring.
The new markings will provide for better visibility in low light and rainy conditions.
During the work, traffic will be controlled by a pilot car and flaggers on the K-14 portion, and motorists should expect up to a 15-minute delay. Occasional lane closures will occur on the K-61 portion, but one lane of traffic will remain open in each direction throughout the project.
RoadSafe Traffic Systems Inc., of Chicago, is the primary contractor. The two projects together total over $523,000.
KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit kandrive.gov or call 511. For updates on construction projects in South Central Kansas, visit ksdot.gov/southcentralnews.
