Another lengthy meeting on wind farm regulations, decision delayed until November

SOUTH HUTCHINSON, Kan. —There were more than two hours of additional discussion on proposed wind farm regulations at a special meeting of the Reno County Planning Commission on Tuesday afternoon, but they were still working through setback requirements and what an enforcement mechanism for non-compliance with the final regulations might look like, so they have once again pushed any adoption of regulations down the road.

Two members of the Commission will not be in attendance at the regular meeting Thursday, so the commission came to a consensus that they would once again table the regulations to the Planning Commission's regular November meeting, which is scheduled for the 19th at 4:30 p.m. at the Public Works office in South Hutchinson.

Any proposed regulations would still need to pass the County Commission, which is down to just two members at the moment after the death Monday of Commissioner Bob Bush.

The public comment portion of the wind farm regulations meeting took place September 18 at the Kansas State Fairgrounds.
