Diane Lucille (Otte) Wade, formerly from Hutchinson, Kansas, and Anthony, Kansas, died Dec. 25, 2020, at Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois. She was born Feb. 24, 1943, in Goessel, Kansas, the daughter of William and Alice (Kuhlmeier) Otte. She attended Immanuel Lutheran Grade School, Canton, Kansas, and graduated from Canton High School in 1961.

In 1962, Diane moved to Omaha, Nebraska, to take a three month business course. While in Omaha, she met her future husband, Douglas Wade, and they were married Jan. 27, 1963 and moved to Hutchinson, Kansas. Their daughter, Tamara Diane Wade, was born on June 24, 1964.  Diane lived in Hutchinson, Kansas for 47 years.   

Diane retired from Eaton Fluid Power Hydraulics (formerly Cessna Fluid Power) after 28 years of service. After retirement, Diane and Doug moved to Anthony, Kansas to be closer to their daughter, Tamara Yoder and family. Following the death of her husband, Douglas, on September 1, 2014, she moved to The Good Samaritan Center in Hutchinson, Kansas, where she lived for two years. Her daughter and family moved to Media, Illinois, and Diane moved to Media to live with their family. In 2016, due to failing health, she moved to The Oak Lane Nursing and Rehab Center in Stronghurst, Illinois and lived there for the rest of her life.

Diane was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Canton, Kansas, and after her marriage she belonged to Christ Lutheran Church of Hutchinson, Kansas; St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Haven, Kansas; and Zion Lutheran Church, Argonia, Kansas. Diane will be remembered by those who knew her for her strong Christian faith, her love of family and friends and for always providing a home for any stray cat in need of care.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Alice Otte; her husband, Douglas Wade and her daughter, Tamara (Wade) Yoder.  She is survived by her son-in-law, Matthew Yoder, Media, Illinois; grandson, David Yoder, Media, Illinois; sister and brother-in-law, Marjorie and Robert Vahsholtz, Port Angeles, Washington; brother and sister-in-law, Lloyd and Pamela Otte, Canton, Kansas, and several nieces and nephews.   

A graveside memorial service will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, Jan. 22, 2021, at the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery, 701 26th Avenue, Canton, Kansas, with Pastor Brent Horne providing the eulogy.  Memorials may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in care of Olson’s Mortuary, PO Box 355, Canton, Kansas 67428.
