Mid-Kansas home sales rise in September

HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Home sales across the Mid-Kansas Multiple Listing Service increased in September, while Reno County saw higher prices despite a slight decline in the number of homes sold.

According to the September 2026 Mid-Kansas MLS Residential Market Snapshot, 122 homes were sold across the market during the month, an 8% increase compared with September 2025. The average sales price climbed 10.1% to $224,067, while the median sales price rose 18.2% to $195,000.

Homes also took longer to sell. The average number of days on the market increased 30.3% to 43 days, while the median increased 41.7% to 17 days. The overall market had 301 active listings and 2.5 months of inventory.

In Reno County, 53 homes were sold in September, down 7% from a year earlier. However, both average and median prices posted double-digit increases.

The average Reno County home sales price reached $213,985, up 15.1%, while the median sales price increased 29.6% to $187,900. The average time on the market increased 6.7% to 32 days, and the median increased 23.1% to 16 days. Reno County had 97 active listings and 1.7 months of inventory.

McPherson County recorded a sharp increase in sales, with 39 homes sold, up 69.6% from September 2025. Prices moved in the opposite direction. The average sales price fell 11.9% to $262,449, while the median slipped 1.3% to $236,000.

McPherson County homes also remained on the market significantly longer, with the average increasing 240% to 51 days and the median rising 350% to 18 days. The county had 81 active listings and 2.6 months of inventory.

The Pratt market, which also includes Barber County sales from the MLS, recorded six sales, down 25%. The average price fell 20.6% to $140,833, while the median declined 28% to $117,000. Homes averaged 103 days on the market. The area had 41 active listings and 4.6 months of inventory.
