
HESSTON, Kan. — The McPherson High School Bullpup tennis team opened the 2025 season with a team title at the Hesston Invitational on Thursday.
The Bullpups scored 26 points to edge Buhler (25) and Hesston (21) in the top three. Wichita Collegiate (15), Maize South (10), Smoky Valley (7), Wichita Trinity Academy (7) and Abilene (4) rounded out the team scoring.
Buhler's Sofia Spies placed second in No. 1 singles, while Ella Gillespie was second in No. 2 singles. Emily Allen and Kylee Bradshaw placed first in No. 1 doubles and the team of Katelyn Harding and Payton Barnes finished third in No. 2 doubles.
McPherson's Maryn Sandbo placed third in No. 1 singles, while Mayson Wiens won No. 2 singles. Dragon Rodriguez and McKenna Paul placed third in No. 1 doubles, while Quinn Liebl and Avery Unruh won No. 2 doubles.
