With sadness, love, and gratitude our family announces the passing of our beautiful mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Wilma Maxine Symonds, 83, got her wings and went to join her loved ones in Heaven on Monday, April 4, 2022 at Pleasant View Home in Inman, KS after a long battle with Parkinson’s.
Wilma was born August 14, 1938 in Preston, MO, the daughter of Lloyd B. and Dorthy (Wooten) Drake. On November 7, 1958 she married Kenneth W. Symonds in Oklahoma, to this union they were blessed with three daughters, Vickie, Debbie, and Kimmie. Wilma was a devoted wife and mother. She was soft spoken and had a gentle soul. Anyone who met her grew to love her. Wilma dedicated her life to her husband and children. She enjoyed painting ceramics and crocheting.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Kenneth; a daughter, Vickie Markhart; and three brothers, Orville, Larry, and Donald Drake.
Wilma is survived by her two daughters, Debbie (Gregg) DeGarmo and Kimmie (Anthony) Beltran all of Hutchinson; seven grandchildren, Kyrsten Beltran, Olivia Beltran, Emily Beltran, Brandy DeGarmo, Kylie DeGarmo, Daniel DeGarmo, Ben DeGarmo and 16 great grandchildren.
Wilma will be greatly missed by all. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday, April 11, 2022 at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, Hutchinson, with Pastor Jerry Stokely officiating. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery, Hutchinson. Friends may sign the book 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday and Friday at Hutchinson Funeral Chapel, 300 E. 30th Ave. Hutchinson, KS.
