The Hutchinson City Council will meet tonight with an agenda that includes proclamations, financial approvals, and several key business items.
The mayor and council members will begin by proclaiming Aug. 22, as Antique Tractor Preservation Day in the city.
On the consent agenda, council will consider approval of:
• Minutes from the Aug. 5 council meeting.
• An appropriation ordinance totaling $2,313,179.29.
• The July city financial report.
• The appointment of Joseph Kelber to the Airport Advisory Committee, filling a vacant seat through Dec. 31.
• Resolutions authorizing special events in the designated entertainment district for the upcoming 2025 Brewfest and SW Bricktown Fiesta events.
Among the business items, the council will consider an ordinance authorizing the issuance of $1.7 million in general obligation bonds to fund repairs on the Woody Seat Avenue C Bridge. The project includes full-depth repairs to the center median and outside barriers, bridge deck patching, a concrete overlay, as well as improvements to lighting and pedestrian pathways. City staff is recommending approval of the bond issuance.
The council will also consider a resolution to schedule a public hearing for Oct. 7 regarding the creation of a Landmark Reinvestment Housing Incentive District and adoption of a related development plan.
Under new business, the council will hear an update on the Woody Seat Project and review a request for a zoning change at the northwest corner of 23rd Avenue and Lorraine Street. The proposal seeks to rezone the property from R-5 High Density Residential District to C-1 Office Commercial District to allow for construction of a car wash. The Hutchinson Planning Commission unanimously voted to deny the request at its July 22 meeting.
The council will also consider a request for proposals for management services for Memorial Hall.
The Hutchinson City Council meeting is open to the public and will be held tonight at 5:30 p.m. at City Hall.
