Tight end Travis Kelce is expected to return to the Kansas City Chiefs for a 14th NFL season rather than test the free-agent market, according to multiple reports Monday.

Just before the start of NFL free agency, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Kelce had informed teams interested in signing him that he planned to remain in Kansas City.

Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported that Kelce and the Chiefs were working toward a new contract, though an agreement had not yet been finalized. The proposed deal was described as a one-year contract worth up to $15 million.

Later Monday afternoon, Adam Schefter of ESPN reported that Kelce would re-sign with Kansas City on a contract worth $12 million with a maximum value of $15 million.

Rapoport later added that Kelce likely could have drawn significant offers on the open market but indicated he preferred to remain with the Chiefs.

Meanwhile, Rob Maaddi reported from the NFL Scouting Combine that Kelce had already signaled he did not plan to use his unrestricted free agency.
