McPHERSON — First responders were called to the McPherson Post Office early Saturday morning after reports of a possible structure fire.

At 7:45 a.m., McPherson Fire Department, McPherson EMS, and the McPherson Police Department responded to 115 E. Kansas. Upon arrival, crews confirmed the building had already been safely evacuated. Firefighters located an electrical outlet that had shorted out and burned.

The damage was contained to the outlet, and crews shut off the breaker to the affected area. No further hazards were found. The building was released back to occupants by 8:30 a.m., and fire crews returned to quarters shortly after.

Officials noted there were no injuries and, in their words, “no junk mail was harmed during this incident.”
