Hutch Post has been able to confirm that investigators with the National Transportation and Safety board arrived in Hutchinson on Sunday. The investigators are here to investigate the natural gas pipeline incident from Saturday that destroyed Steffens Auto Parts.

According to the NTSB each investigation varies on the nature of the accident being investigated. Every investigation goes through the following process
• Initial notification and decision to investigate
• On-site fact gathering
• Analysis of facts and determination of the cause
• Acceptance of the final report
• Advocating for the acceptance of safety recommendation arising from the investigation
This process can take anywhere from 18 to 24 months depending on the nature and complexity of the investigation.
